SIALUBALO HAILS NC’WALA CEREMONY AS A DRIVER OF UNITY AND LOCAL ECONOMIC GROWTH

The Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Gift Sialubalo, has described the Nc’wala Traditional Ceremony as a unifying national event that plays a critical role in fostering social cohesion and promoting local economic development.
Speaking as Guest of Honour during the Nc’wala fundraising and appreciation dinner, Hon Sialubalo said the ceremony brings together people from within and beyond the cultural realm, creating a platform for cultural exchange, national unity and inclusive participation.
He noted that traditional ceremonies such as Nc’wala are vital in strengthening community identity while also contributing meaningfully to economic activity at local level through tourism, trade and enterprise development.
The Minister emphasized that the Nc’wala Ceremony remains one of Zambia’s most significant cultural events, attracting thousands of participants and visitors, and serving as an important vehicle for preserving and promoting the country’s rich heritage.
Also speaking at the event, a representative from Zanaco reaffirmed the institution’s belief that culture and education are key pillars of sustainable national development.
The bank noted that the Nc’wala Ceremony is not only a symbol of Zambia’s rich traditions but also an important driver of tourism and economic growth.
Similarly, Stanbic Bank Zambia described the Nc’wala as one of Zambia’s strongest reminders of the country’s cultural identity.
The bank emphasized that culture is more than a source of income, but a legacy that must be safeguarded for future generations.
The event was attended by various high-level dignitaries, including His Highness Nkosi Nzamane, representing Paramount Chief Mpezeni.
