The Minister of Tourism, Honourable Rodney Sikumba, MP, has arrived in Xi’an,Shaanxi Province, Peoples Republic of China, to participate in the 2025 the World Internet Conference Cultural Heritage Digitization Forum held from 16th to 17September 2025.
The Minister is accompanied by the Ambassador of the Republic of Zambia to the People’s Republic of China, H.E. Ivan Zyuulu, the Director General of the National Museums Board, Mr. George Mudenda and other senior Government officials.
Honourable Sikumba stated that the Ministry is intentional about transforming the cultural heritage space through technology, building partnerships and delivering practical pilots that create jobs, skills and value for communities.
Zambia’s participation affirms the Government’s resolve to safeguard, promote national heritage and economically leverage its rich cultural and natural heritage through modern digital technologies.
The forum brings together international experts, technology leaders and cultural institutions to advance practical solutions in digital preservation, access and innovation.
During the Forum the delegation will participate in plenary sessions, technical meetings focused on digital heritage standards and bilateral engagements aimed at strengthening cooperation between Zambia heritage institutions and counterparts in China and other countries.
