SADC Senior Officials Meet Ahead of Ministerial Meeting on Environment, Natural Resources and Tourism
Senior Officials from SADC Member States responsible for Environment, Natural Resources and Tourism met today to prepare for the upcoming Ministerial Meeting scheduled for 21st May 2025. The meeting was chaired by Ambassador Tadeous Chifamba of Zimbabwe and focused on key regional priorities including biodiversity conservation, climate resilience, and sustainable tourism development.
In her remarks, SADC Deputy Executive Secretary Ms. Angelè Makombo N’Tumba reaffirmed the region’s commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible resource use.
Key agenda items included reviewing wildlife conservation efforts, preparations for the 20th CITES COP, the role of forestry in rural development and leveraging tourism for green growth.
The Ministry of Tourism Permanent Secretary Evans Muhanga and other senior government officials in the Ministry are in attendance and actively participating in these strategic discussions that align with SADC’s Vision 2050 and the RISDP 2020–2030.
