Minister of Tourism Rodney Sikumba has described the recently concluded Africa Travel Indaba 2025, held in Durban, South Africa, as an insightful platform for promoting Zambia’s tourism.

Mr. Sikumba highlighted the strong participation of Zambian exhibitors and private sector stakeholders as an opportunity to showcase Zambia’s rich tourism potential to the world.

He noted that the Indaba is a powerful economic driver for Africa, aiming to forge a stronger and more united tourism future for the continent by giving players and stakeholders the chance to showcase the diversity of what their individual countries, including Zambia, have to offer globally.

The Minister expressed satisfaction with the good turnout of exhibitors and other private sector participants and emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships in advancing the sector, adding that increased collaboration remains key to unlocking Zambia’s tourism growth.

He said the Indaba, one of the continent’s premier tourism trade shows, allowed Zambia to engage with international buyers, tour operators, and media, reinforcing its position as a must-visit destination in Southern Africa.

He added that the Indaba provided the tourism sector with a valuable platform to market and sell their products to the world and share best practices driving the growth of tourism in Zambia.

He further called for a united voice to promote regional cooperation at Africa Travel Indaba 2025, strengthening regional partnerships. During the Indaba, the minister also joined tourism ministers on a high-level panel, where he called for enhanced regional coordination in Africa’s tourism sector.
Meanwhile, Zambia’s Acting High Commissioner to South Africa Inonge Mwenya said the Indaba provides an opportunity for promoting, attracting, and showcasing what Zambia has.

Ms. Mwenya said this year’s Indaba was a success as it has brought so many tourists and stakeholders to visit the Zambian stands, shared ideas and knowledge about tourism, business opportunities, and connections that will shape the country’s destiny.

Ms. Mwenya reiterated Government’s effort on national development, saying tourism contributes towards the growth and development of a country.

The travel Indaba is an iconic African leisure trade show engineered by the South African Tourism Board, with the specific objective of creating market access for the vast array of African leisure tourism products.

“The trade show exists to provide the ideal platform for African tourism exhibitors to showcase what they offer to international and local buyers, destination marketing companies, and leisure tourism service partners.

“It is a formidable platform on the continent that enables players and stakeholders to meet face-to-face with the most influential buyers in the world and to gain access to Africa’s excellence and its endless possibilities,” Ms. Mwenya said.
